Event Logistics & Procurement

David is the expert material & logistics planner in our team. Specialized in logistics and overlay services, he is the key facilitator when it comes to installing and dismantling your entire event infrastructure. Regardless of their size, events always require some level of overlay services combined with sound logistics, so that all service suppliers work in a coordinated and timely fashion.

There are numerous elements to be considered in advance:

What kind of material (e.g. fences, furniture, trusses, office material) needs to be procured?

In which quantities and quality, and which supplier would be able to deliver the service?

How will this fit into our schedule and which logistics structure (storage, heavy machinery, delivery management) will be required on-site?

David will know how to sort you out in all of this, in either planning, on-site implementation or both. With over 12 years of experience in major sports events and his wide network of contacts & suppliers, he will find the most practical and cost-effective solutions for your specific requirements.

Scope of work:

Logistics & Material Planning

Defining the operational details of an event and creating a plan how to implement them is not as straightforward as it might seem.

A good, well-balanced logistics & material plan requires skills, knowledge and a lot of experience.

Physical Logistics

In order to be used, material needs to be handled, shipped, unloaded, stored and moved in multiple ways.

The importance of controlling the material flow and managing the service supplier and their deliveries often becomes obvious once a problem arises. (And it will...).

Procurement & Overlay

Preparing an event always involves bringing additional material to the venue, through various service suppliers.

The question is: what is required and in which quantities, when and where? And then of course... who could provide this service in the most cost-effective way?

On-site implementation

Having a perfect plan is obviously great, but knowing how to execute it eventually is what really counts.

Implementation requires both leadership and team-player skills. It is about communication, stress resistance, problem-solving and again... a lot of experience.

About:

With a degree in International Business and Human Geography, David entered the event industry more or less spontaneously in 2005, working for the host broadcast logistics operations of FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. He has never really left the world of events since then. Specializing in procurement, overlay and logistics services, he has been leading UEFA's Event Logistics team for more than 5 years, successfully providing procurement & logistics services for UEFA's main events (Euro and Champions/Europa League).

David has been an independent event freelancer since coming back to Germany in 2017. Using his logistics expertise and supplier network, he is now helping event organisers in the sports and corporate world to prepare, plan and implement their procurement & logistics operations.

David currently lives in Erfurt with his young family.
